ABOUT ME

Irvin Pelayo is a Latin-American concept artist and illustrator from San Jose, California. They have most recently collaborated with a local queer nightlife entertainment collective, Toxic Waste Face, as their lead illustrator and concept designer for their event named “Teens with Fever”. During this process, Pelayo illustrated three separate characters that reflected each of the individual members of the group that would later be used as promotional material for the event. Other noteworthy experiences have included designing illustrations used as merchandise for drag performer and reality television personality, Aja featured on “RuPaul's Drag Race season 9 and RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars season 3. Irvin is a Digital Art and Design Entertainment major at Cogswell Polytechnical College where they have gained experience illustrating with different mediums such as acrylic and oil paint as well as with creating assets and characters in 3D using 3D modeling software. As a queer and gender non conforming person Irvin's work heavily explores the concepts of identity, gender, and sex and how these aspects are represented in the LGBT community. As a first-generation college student who was also born from immigrant parents Irvin’s cultural heritage also fuels his interest in exploring ideas and personalities that are not commonly seen or that are often marginalized in mainstream Western society.
